Artist's Comments

I was born in the year of the Bulls-Eye.
And unless the headlines lie, then they prophesied
That this age was the one to detonate.
So lets go.

No more!
I cant take another false alarm!
So if the fuses have been lit, lets get this over with.
I cant take another false alarm!
And I dont want to wait another day for the countdown.
Because I fell in love with my visions of
The mushroom cloud.

:iconsilverpoot: is doing a contest in which you have to mix your fursona with her fursona, Airu. I wasn't origionally gonna enter the contest, but after I listened to the song The Never Ever Aftermath by The End, a whole bunch of ideas popped into my head. What I came up with sounded like some kind of video game; like a mix between Silent Hill and Chernobyl :XD:
Since Aftermath's story is like a game, I decided to write about it in a similar manner :D

Backstory:In the not so distanct future, scientists begain experimenting with a new kind of atomic energy. The government tried to hide the experiemnts from the public, but info leaked and the world soon started to become frightened on the power of the new bombs that were being created. Newspapers and radio shows talked about how the end of the world was just around the corner. And sadly, they were right.
A few years after the creation of the new bombs, there was a freak accident that caused all the neuclear bombs around the world to detonate at once. The explosion cause the world to fall into ruin, and millions died. However, some living beings survived and became mutated by the radioactive energy. They stalked the world as mindless, deformed monsters, seeking out and killing survivors.
Two creatures, Zing the Pseudogriff and Airu the Kitsu, were amoung those survivors. Their bodies became murged in the blast. With two minds occupying one body, the two had to learn to work together to find a way to reverse the damage cause by the blast.

Mission: You play as Aftermath, the combined form of Airu and Zing. Your mission is to travel the world and gather information on the new radioactive energy that the scientists had been studying. The more you learn about the new energy, the closer you get to reversing the effects of the nuclearn fallout and restoring the world
However, your journy won't be an easy one. Monsterous beings haunt the fallen cities and ghosty, burned forests of the post-atomic world. These monsters carry within them a special kind of atomic energy that Aftermath can absorb into her horn. Defeat the monsters and collect the energy within your horn to grow more powerful and unlock new skills.

Powers: You will not be unarmed in your journey for world resoration. Both Zing and Airu had special powers before they merged, and after they became Aftermath, those powers became enhanced. You can control different powers depending on which character's brain is dominate at the moment. Toggle between characters by using the L (Zing) and R (Airu) buttons.

As Airu: Airu can summon lightning bolts that strike your enemies from above. She can also blow super hot blue fire, which singes the enemy and causes consecutive damage. Physical attacks include charging attacks with her horn, stabbing with the claw on her wing, and tail swipes.

As Zing: Zing can shoot small orbs of air at the enemies, which can trip them or send them sprawling back. She also shoots acid at foes from her hinged fangs. Her physical attacks are leaping and tearing at foes with her talons, biting with her fangs, and kicking with her hind legs.

Special attacks: Because of the radioactive energy, Aftermath has special skills that niether Zing nor Airu had before the blast. The most powerful of these is a special beam attack that uses the energy gathered in her horn. The more energy you have collected, the stronger the beam will be.

Game Endings Assuming you survive the horribly twisted world and mutated monsters, you'll reach the final stage of the game: the R.A.D.S (Radioactive and Atomic Department of Scientology) building. This is the place where it all started, and here you will find the games final boss (the lead scientist as a grusome monster with an unreal amount of HP) and a strange machine. After reading the scientist's notes on the machine, you learn that by powering it with the new nuclear energy (the stuff you collected in your horn), you can use the machine to either:

A: Destroy all the radioactive energy and turn the world back into what it was.
or
B: Separate Aftermath into Zing and Airu again.

Depending on what you chose, you can get the good ending or the bad ending. The good ending has the world restored, but Aftermath stays the way she was, with Airu and Zing deciding to sacrifice their old bodies for the good of the world.

The bad ending has Aftermath use the energy to separate her body back into Zing and Airu again. But, although they're back to the way they were, the world is still destroyed and mutated...

The ending you get is up to you.

Well, that's all I've got. All I can say is: I'D SO PLAY THAT GAME 8|

I would totally play this game too. It sounds really freaking fun! I really like how you did... like everything. XD I don't even know what to pick out from it all. I think my favorite part is that you made it a video game character and have the whole story behind it here. Really nice, I enjoyed reading it and it would make a killer game too.

The final result kind of reminds me even of my other species, the Fingdahn: [link]
so that is even neater XD

Congrats on your HM (honorable mention)!
O_O That game sounds so flippin' fun, you'd have people swarming to play it. Find a company that you perfer, write out the idea in a letter, and send that to them. Odds are, you might get a reply and be on your way to money and fame. :) You should really do it, it sounds like an awesome game. Nicely written.
The pciture is an excellent mixture with a priceless expression and amazing details. Keep it up!
