Prince Arctic's lament- click for a Playlist link! by Iron-Zing Prince Arctic's lament- click for a Playlist link! by Iron-Zing
If I ever stop drawing Arctic please assume there's something wrong with me

So here's my fav Wings of Fire character for like the 20th time, but look! I made a playlist with music that reminded me of him:…

Some of the songs remind me of how he feels in the Night Kingdom, or his love for Foeslayer, or his regrets about what happened in his life.

If anyone listens to it or thinks of any songs I could add to it, please lemme know :3

I love Arctic, personally, I think that Arctic is what happens when you take an Icewing away from ice for too long. Kind of how King Gill was insane after being water straved, our dear Arctic was ice straved on top of a grumpy personality and had a crazy mother who hounded him. I also love the way you draw him.

Yeah, that's a great observation. Not only that, but he was forced to become nocturnal, and when human beings are forced to be awake only at night for years upon years, it can cause mental health issues. Not only that, but he also accidentally killed dragons he /knew/ with his powers. And if Turtle's inner thoughts are anything to go off of in Talons of Power, Arctic probably also had those unwanted, dark thoughts. just like Turtle had. Only his were most likely much, much worse, because he actually killed multiple dragons whereas Turtle only slightly beat up Chameleon a bit.

And then combine all of that mental stuff on top of physically being in a place too hot for him, without any of his people around, and constantly being looked at suspiciously by the Nightwings around him.....well yeah. He had a good reason to be grumpy!

I could talk about Arctic all day aha, most people just look at him on the surface and see 'crappy dad who doesn't seem to love his kids'. But he has so much more to his character then that!

That us very true, he had to do a whole 180 when he lived with Foeslayer. He didn't have anyone that wouldn't have looked at him with suspicion, and he was most likely very uncomfortable all the time, tired and beating himself up for those deaths.

It is also canon that Arctic taught Darkstalker how to control his mindreading powers, because he apprently had very dark thoughts. Though the wiki doesn't mention what those thoughts were, extacly, we can probably guess that they could've mostly directed at Arctic himself.

Thats what I love about this series, it has very well delvoped characters. They aren't just cut and dry good or evil, and both Arctic and Darkstalker are wonderful examples of this.

Yeah exactly! Imagine if someone could hear poor Turtle's thoughts about Chameleon, they'd probably think he was a bit disturbed. Arctic's version of that must have been 10x worse.

I agree, it's such an amazing series ;w; I'm glad someone else appreciates Arctic's character as much as I do~

Very. Its kind of understandable that he was completely lost after he lost Foeslayer, even if they fought, she was probably his anchor.

I didn't like him at first, but when I read Clearsight's discerption of him when she meets him, it changed my mind. Because Darkstalker sees him as evil and cruel, so we're only going to get that pov from him, but with Clearsight we see him in a different light, if only for a second. Hes very intresting and needs some snow and a vacation.

Oh gosh yes, she was the only reason he was staying in the Night Kingdom. After she left he didnt want to stay, and he didn't want to leave Whiteout behind because he loved her also...but of course she wouldn't have wanted to go with him so.....yup :x He made a bad choice in forcing her, but maybe he thought she would need a parent around and didn't want to leave her an orphan? Who knows what made him make that choice. He was desperate to try and get to Foeslayer if he could

Yeah I liked that part as well, it let us see him through someone else's eyes, besides Darkstalkers.
